It’s an intriguing phenomenon, isn’t it?

As we age, some people seem to grow more attractive, their charm only amplifying with the passage of time.

It’s not all about physical appearance either, but something deeper, more enticing.

My guess?

It comes down to habits.

Often, those who age ‘gracefully’, so to speak, have cultivated certain practices throughout their lives.

Now, I’m not talking about expensive skincare routines or rigorous diets.

These habits are much simpler and more profound than you’d expect.

Here’s a sneak peek into the 8 habits commonly adopted by people who seem to grow more attractive as they get older.

1) Embrace authenticity

One trait that consistently amplifies a person’s attractiveness as they grow older is authenticity.

It’s a term we often throw around, but what does it actually mean?

It’s all about staying true to who you are, your values, and your beliefs, despite what society or others might dictate.

This habit isn’t about being stubborn or unyielding, but rather about being comfortable in your own skin and owning your individuality.

Why is this so attractive?

Because it radiates a sense of confidence and self-assuredness that people naturally gravitate towards.

But authenticity isn’t something you can fake.

It’s about being genuine, not putting on a show.

So don’t try to be someone else just to appear more likeable or attractive.

In the long run, people will appreciate you for who you truly are.

And there’s nothing more attractive than that.

2) Practice positivity

Another habit I’ve noticed in people who age attractively is their ability to maintain a positive outlook, even in the face of adversity.

Take my friend, Jon, for example.

He’s in his late 60s, but you’d never know it to look at him.

He radiates energy and good vibes wherever he goes.

And I believe a lot of that comes from his positive attitude.

I remember a few years back when he lost his job.

It was a tough time for him, but instead of letting himself be consumed by negativity, he used it as an opportunity to explore new career paths.

He ended up starting his own business, which he loves and is thriving today.

Jon’s positive outlook didn’t just help him navigate through a challenging period; it also seemed to make him more attractive to those around him.

His resilience and optimism were magnetic.

A study published in the British Journal of Social Psychology found that consistent acts of kindness and a positive demeanor greatly increase perceived physical attractiveness.

So, practice positivity.

It not only helps you navigate life’s ups and downs but also adds to your overall attractiveness as you age.

3) Cultivate a sense of humour

There’s something irresistibly attractive about a person who can find humour in life, especially as they age.

Humour has a unique way of breaking barriers, diffusing tension, and making people feel at ease.

It shows a light-hearted approach to life and an ability to not take things too seriously.

Moreover, the ability to laugh at oneself is a sign of confidence and self-awareness – two traits that are undeniably attractive.

4) Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness is another habit that significantly contributes to aging attractively.

What is mindfulness, you ask?

It’s about being fully present in the moment, aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

It’s about connecting deeply with your surroundings and appreciating the here and now.

In my book, “The Art of Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Living in the Moment”, I delve into the benefits of cultivating this practice.

Mindfulness isn’t just about meditation or yoga.

It’s about embracing each moment, whether it’s a simple daily task or a life-changing event.

By doing so, you exude a sense of peace and tranquility that is innately attractive.

But practicing mindfulness goes beyond just making you more attractive.

It helps reduce stress, improve focus, and promote overall well-being.

5) Prioritize self-care

Self-care is vital, and it becomes even more so as we age.

It’s not just about pampering yourself with luxurious spa days or indulging in your favorite treats, though those things are undoubtedly enjoyable.

At its core, self-care is about recognizing when you need to take a step back and give yourself some TLC.

It’s about listening to your body and mind and taking the necessary steps to maintain your overall health and wellbeing.

Research has shown that maintaining a positive outlook can significantly impact one’s health and attractiveness as they age.

For instance, there was a time when work consumed my life.

I was always on the go, juggling multiple projects, and barely had time for myself.

I ignored the little signs my body was sending me until one day, it just gave up on me. I fell sick and had to take an enforced break.

That’s when I realized how important it is to prioritize self-care.

Since then, I’ve made it a point to incorporate simple self-care routines into my daily life – be it a quick jog in the morning, a relaxing bath at night, or simply enjoying a cup of tea while reading a good book.

And let me tell you, it has made a world of difference.

Not only do I feel healthier and happier, but I’ve also noticed that people find this sense of self-love and respect quite attractive.

6) Embrace imperfections

This one might seem a bit counter-intuitive, but stick with me.

In a world that’s constantly urging us to strive for perfection, embracing our imperfections can be a refreshing, even attractive, trait.

We all have flaws; it’s part of being human.

But instead of hiding them, those who age attractively have a way of accepting and even celebrating their imperfections.

This doesn’t mean they don’t strive for self-improvement.

But they understand that perfection is an illusion and that real beauty lies in our quirks and idiosyncrasies.

So, instead of obsessing over your flaws, learn to appreciate them.

7) Keep learning

Another habit that seems to enhance one’s attractiveness over time is the pursuit of knowledge.

Those who continue to learn and grow, regardless of their age, possess a unique allure.

Their curiosity and thirst for knowledge make them interesting people to be around.

Whether it’s picking up a new skill, delving into a subject you’re passionate about, or simply staying updated with the world around you, continuous learning keeps your mind sharp.

Moreover, it opens up new avenues for conversation and engagement with others.

And let’s face it, who doesn’t find an intelligent, well-informed person attractive?

A study by the World Economic Forum predicts that by 2025, 50% of all employees will need reskilling due to technological advancements and automation.

This highlights the importance of continuous learning in staying relevant and engaging in today’s rapidly changing world.

8) Practice kindness

Above all, the most attractive trait a person can possess, no matter their age, is kindness.

Being kind to others, showing empathy and compassion, can make a profound impact.

It attracts people to you like a magnet.

Kindness shows that you value others and respect them.

It goes beyond physical attributes or intellectual prowess.

So be kind.

To others, and to yourself.

It’s the most potent form of attractiveness there is.

The beauty in aging

It’s fascinating, isn’t it?

The concept of growing more attractive as we age.

But as we’ve discovered, it’s not about physical beauty or anti-aging serums.

Instead, it’s about cultivating habits that enhance your inner attractiveness.

It’s about authenticity, positivity, humor, mindfulness, self-care, embracing imperfections, continuous learning, and above all, kindness.

In my book, “The Art of Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Living in the Moment”, I delve deeper into some of these habits.

I discuss how they’re not just beneficial for our attractiveness but also for our overall wellbeing.

Aging is a natural process that we all go through.

It has its ups and downs.

But by adopting these habits, we can make the journey more enriching and beautiful.

So as we age, let’s strive to be more attractive.

Not just on the outside, but from within.

Because true attractiveness is timeless and knows no age.
