There’s something incredible about mornings. They hold the promise of a new day and, for me, they have become a game changer.

Hello, I am Jeanette Brown, the creator of Reset Your Life Compass. I used to be a notorious night owl, struggling to get out of bed every morning. But everything changed when I discovered a 15-minute morning routine.

This routine, which I will share with you, is not a magic trick. It’s about setting the right tone for the day ahead. It’s about using those first precious minutes after waking up to start your day on a positive note.

In this article, I will walk you through my routine. It’s simple, effective, and best of all, it won’t take much of your time. So get ready to break old habits and usher in a new way of starting your day. It can change your life just like it did mine!

1) Embrace the stillness

Life is a complex tapestry of challenges and triumphs. And beneath our external circumstances, it’s our inner world that truly shapes our journey. How we navigate our thoughts and feelings, indeed, drives everything that matters to us.

In my quest to reset my life compass, the first thing I realized was the value of stillness. Morning is the perfect time to embrace this quietude.

My first tip for a transformative morning routine? Spend a few moments in mindfulness.

Before the mad rush of the day kicks in, before your mind starts racing with to-do lists and deadlines, take a moment to just be still. This can be as simple as sitting quietly with a cup of tea, or it could be a more formal meditation practice.

In my case, I dedicate a few minutes each morning to sit in silence. It helps me clear my mind and set the right tone for the day. This small act of stillness has had a profound impact on how I approach my day, making me more mindful and focused.

Remember, it’s not about doing something grandiose. It’s about starting small and making it a habit. As you practice stillness each morning, you’ll find it easier to navigate your inner world and face the challenges of the day with clarity and calmness.

2) Set my intention for the day and journal

After my five minutes of silence, I spend the next five minutes journaling. This isn’t about documenting what happened yesterday or penning down my to-do list for the day. Instead, I write about how I am going with my hopes, dreams, and goals. I write about the person I want to become and the steps I need to take to become that person.

This practice has transformed my life in unimaginable ways. It has made me aware of my innate potential and helped me take control of my life. It’s a gentle reminder each morning that I’m not a passive observer in my life – I’m the director.

Remember, true empowerment comes from taking full responsibility for our lives. And it starts with acknowledging our potential and making a conscious decision each day to steer our life in the direction we want it to go.

This routine also involves setting my intention for the day. Setting daily intentions has provided direction to my days and helped me align my actions with my values. It’s a simple yet powerful way to live with purpose and intention.

Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can transform our perspective on life. As part of my journaling practice, I write down three things I’m grateful for. Some days it’s big things like my health or family, other days it’s small things like a good cup of coffee.

3) Prioritize physical wellness

The connection between our physical and emotional wellbeing cannot be overstated. In my 15-minute morning routine, I ensure to dedicate a few minutes to simple physical exercises. This could be a quick stretch – just something to get the blood flowing and shake off the morning stiffness.

This simple habit has not only improved my physical health but also boosted my mood and energy levels for the day. Remember, your body is your vehicle in this journey of life. Take good care of it!

4) Become your own coach

Most of us spend more time planning our vacations than we do planning our lives. Yet, I believe that we all have the ability to become our own life coaches. We can learn to navigate major life changes and lead more fulfilling lives.

The basis of my 15-minute morning routine is  the practice of self-coaching.

You see, coaching is not just about having someone else guide you. It’s also about building a relationship with yourself, understanding your strengths and weaknesses, and devising a plan to reach your goals.

Every morning, after journaling, I ask myself three questions: What am I grateful for today? What will make today great? And how can I make progress towards my goals today?

These questions have helped me to maintain a positive mindset, focus on what truly matters, and take deliberate action towards my goals.

By becoming our own coach, we empower ourselves to navigate any life change and build the life we dream of. And the beauty of it is, it only takes 15 minutes every morning.

5) Cultivate self-compassion

Self-compassion is a powerful tool that we often overlook. It’s the act of treating ourselves with the same kindness, understanding, and grace that we extend to others. As Dr. Kristin Neff, a leading voice in self-compassion research, once said, “Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.”

Part of my  15-minute morning routine is dedicated to cultivating  self-compassion. This involves  spending a moment appreciating myself. I acknowledge the efforts I’m putting into becoming a better person and forgive myself for any mistakes I’ve made.

This practice of self-compassion has been transformative. It has helped me to maintain a healthy relationship with myself and navigate life’s challenges with more resilience and grace.

We all have moments of self-doubt and struggle. But remember, practicing self-compassion isn’t about eliminating these struggles—it’s about learning to relate to them in a healthier way. And this simple act of kindness towards ourselves can truly transform our lives.

In concluding, it’s crucial to remember that the journey to self-improvement is a personal one, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. This 15-minute routine that transformed my life, of sitting in stillness, journaling and stretching exercises is merely a guide, a starting point for you to create your own routine that aligns with your needs and aspirations.

Remember, the essence of this routine lies in taking out time for yourself each morning and setting the right tone for the day. It’s about tapping into your potential, becoming your own coach, and steering your life in the direction you want it to go.

Remember, every day is a new opportunity for growth and improvement. Make the most of it by starting your day with intention and purpose. Here’s to your journey towards a happier, more fulfilling life!
