A Better America Scholarship Program
Global English Editing awards one $1500 scholarship each year to a student in the United States who intends to make a positive contribution to the country’s future.
Reason for the scholarship
We want to reach out to the student generation and reward initiative, innovation and lofty idealism.
Today’s college students have the ability to seamlessly navigate the 21st century better than any previous generation. The world is shrinking, with globalization, speed of light communication and unprecedented access to knowledge via the Internet tearing down barriers to individual and community advancement. With a pocket-sized smartphone that would have been considered a supercomputer 40 years ago, a young person can turn the world on its head and take selfies all at the same time.
The scholarship is not limited to a particular university or course, as every student in the United States has the power to change the country. Whether a student is taking night classes at an Idaho community college or attends Harvard with an impeccable academic background, they can change the status quo.
We outline our reason for the scholarship in greater detail on our blog – Scholarship to Help Young People Change America.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
• Currently enrolled at an accredited university in the United States.
• A citizen of the United States, or have a valid green card.
• International students studying in the United States are eligible, but they will have to demonstrate their intention to stay in the country after graduation and see through their change-making agenda.
The deadline for this year’s scholarship program is 31 December 2014, and the winner will be announced on 14 January 2015. Please direct any questions about the scholarship to firstname.lastname@example.org.
How to apply
Students must outline in 200 words or less how they intend to change America after finishing their degree. As an editing and proofreading company, we value high quality writing, and therefore we will look kindly upon well written entries. Please submit your entry to email@example.com and include your name, university and contact details.
Global English Editing will award $1500 to the leading student. This money should be used to facilitate their agenda, but whether that involves paying for tuition, textbooks or college accommodation, or something entirely different, is up to them.
Keep in mind that if Steve Jobs was awarded such a scholarship in his youth, he probably would have spent the money to attend a Buddhist retreat and on LSD, and we think he made a pretty fantastic contribution to America, and the world.
If you would like any more information about the scholarship, or if you are inspired by its potential to help change America and would like to help spread the word about it, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
